A RARE BEAUTY
The romantically named Dancing Water Vineyard is home to some of New Zealand’s earliest planted Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines. Carefully selected and planted over thirty years ago, the founders’ passion was for creating distinctive wines with individuality and character.
The legacy continues today as our venerable old vines have matured gracefully to seduce wine lovers with concentrated flavour, complexity and a depth that lingers on the palette. These extraordinary old vines are not generous with their yields but this only serves to beguile the enchanted with the elusiveness of light dancing on water…and our desire for quality over quantity.
Located on the east of New Zealand’s South Island and bordering Christchurch city, North Canterbury is an internationally renowned destination for wine and food. The clay and limestone soils of the Waipara Valley lend itself to the concentrated and expressive wines which are grown here – particularly Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling.
CREATING MASTERPIECES TO BE ENJOYED BY ALL
In 2017, a group of wine lovers discovered and fell in love with the long established Dancing Water Vineyard in the stunningly beautiful, North Canterbury wine area of New Zealand.
Like an old painting in need of restoration, the neglected old vines were in need of nourishing and cherishing to bring them back to life so that we could fulfil our vision of sharing award winning wine once again with other wine lovers throughout the world.
Our first creation was the 2016 Pinot Noir. A blend of Dancing Water grapes and Pinot Noir grapes from neighbouring organic vineyards, this wine with its complexity of flavours, was considered a resounding success by wine critics and we’re happy to say, “aging gracefully for anyone lucky enough to still have it in their cellar”.
Today, the labours of our love have come to fruition and this year we can proudly offer our very own much-applauded, single vineyard Pinot Noir and Scheurebe.
Michelle Reid’s painting “Glint” has been the muse behind our new series of wines.
Our new friendship with Michelle is something we hope will form the beginning of a long term collaboration with artists and wine lovers throughout the world.
